Scripture Focus:
Acts 9:10-11 — “And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go… for, behold, he prayeth.”
There are moments when God asks us to do something that doesn’t make sense. It may feel uncomfortable, inconvenient, or even risky. That’s exactly where Ananias found himself. God told him to go pray for Saul—a man known for persecuting believers. From a human perspective, Ananias had every reason to hesitate.
But God wasn’t asking for Ananias’ opinion—He was asking for his obedience.
The same is true in our lives. When God speaks, He isn’t looking for us to edit His instructions, delay them, or reshape them to fit our comfort. He’s looking for simple obedience. The kind that says, “Yes, Lord,” even when we don’t fully understand.
Think about the wise men. They followed a star without knowing the full journey. Joseph obeyed a dream in the middle of the night to protect Jesus. Ananias walked into a situation that seemed dangerous. In every case, God used ordinary people who were simply willing to listen and act.
Here’s the truth: God doesn’t need perfect people—He needs available people.
When we obey:
- We become part of someone else’s breakthrough
- We allow God’s power to flow through us
- We step into a purpose bigger than ourselves
Ananias’ obedience changed Saul’s life—and Saul became Paul, one of the greatest apostles. Imagine if Ananias had said no.
Don’t underestimate what’s on the other side of your obedience.
God may be calling you to:
- Encourage someone
- Pray for someone
- Step out in faith in a small way
It might seem simple, but God works powerfully through simple acts done in faith.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to trust Your voice and obey without hesitation. Even when I don’t understand, give me the courage to say yes. Use me as a vessel for Your purpose, and let my obedience bring glory to You. Amen.
